Right now, families in the DRC are fleeing for their lives. They’ve lost everything—homes, belongings, and access to healthcare and safe water. You can help provide life-saving aid today.

A recent escalation in conflict in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has resulted in millions of people having to flee their homes searching for safety. Taking refuge in temporary camps, schools and churches, overwhelming numbers of these displaced families now lack access to safe drinking water and healthcare with rising rates of malnutrition and diseases being reported.

Your donation today can help provide essential health, food and water to families who are fleeing to temporary camps.

What is happening in the DRC?

  • A paramilitary group called M23 has advanced against government forces and taken control of key cities in the eastern regions. M23 are known for their use of sexual violence and executions as war strategies to keep control

  • Severe human rights abuse has been reported; women and children are being attacked. Children account for almost 40% of gender-based violence survivors.

  • Approximately 7 million people have been forced to flee their homes in fear for their lives and are now seeking safety in temporary camps, churches and schools. 1 million others have crossed the border and become refugees.

  • The living conditions of displaced families living in overcrowded temporary shelter is alarming with significant shortages in water, food and healthcare.

  • Key healthcare infrastructure has been detroyed, and the remaining facilities are overcrowded with outbreaks in cholera, malaria and measles being reported.

  • Cases of severe malnutrition are also increasing rapidly with 25.5 million people not having access to enough food.

  • A funding freeze is making this crisis even worse. Last year, 70% of the DRC’s humanitarian aid came from the U.S. With that support now on hold, families are being left without the help they desperately need.
