Passing a neighbour’s mulch-covered plot one day, she asked about the strange sight. He told her about the opportunity to learn about conservation agriculture from Tearfund’s partner.

Amareech had been ostracised, and says she was stressed, poor and afraid - but thanks to the support she received from our partner, those days are long-gone for Amareech! Ten years later, she grows enough drought-resistant crops for her household and to sell in the market. Amareech’s harvest provides a sustainable income, and now her little farm even outperforms her neighbours!
