Hundreds of thousands need help immediately as the conflict in Israel and Gaza creates a humanitarian crisis. The death toll is rising as hospitals and homes are damaged, food and water run out, and families scramble to safety.

Tearfund is responding through local Christian partners to provide medical assistance and urgently needed medical supplies.

What is happening and how are people affected?

  • Thousands of people have lost their lives, and many more are injured. 
     
  • An estimated 1.9 million people are displaced in Gaza with limited access to food, water and shelter. 
     
  • The healthcare system faces unprecedented challenges. As at 6th of December, there are only 8 medical facilities functioning in south Gaza and 1 hospital (our partner) functioning in the north. These facilities are struggling to function with shortages of essential medicines, basic equipment and electricity.

Tearfund is proud to be a founding member of the Emergency Alliance. The Emergency Alliance raises funds on behalf of eight Kiwi agencies to respond to various humanitarian crises in the world - all while giving Kiwis a simple and effective way to support people affected by disasters and conflicts. Currently, the Emergency Alliance has launched an appeal for Gaza.
