Recent conflict that began in southern Lebanon has spread into more densely populated areas, forcing hundreds of thousands of people from their homes, including an estimated 1 in 10 Lebanese children.

To date, more than 1 million people have fled with very little, seeking safety wherever they can find it. Access to basic supplies such as blankets, safe water and hygiene items is urgently needed by families in crisis.

Tearfund is responding to urgent needs as displaced people search for safety and stability.

Donations to this appeal are helping Tearfund’s partners already working in Lebanon provide urgent support for families fleeing the escalating conflict.

This includes blankets, mattresses and emergency hygiene kits. These supplies help families stay warm, sleep in temporary shelter, safely collect and store water, and reduce the spread of disease.

MERATH works with vulnerable individuals and families through relief and development programmes. Their work focuses on meeting urgent needs such as food and hygiene support, while also strengthening education, child protection and livelihoods. 

As a Christian organisation, MERATH takes a holistic approach that values human dignity and seeks to empower communities.

Together, we assess needs, oversee programmes and report on exactly how support reaches families. Working through local organisations enables aid to reach families quickly and in ways that respect local culture and context. 

Since 2023, Tearfund has supported people affected by the ongoing crisis in Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon through trusted Christian partners already serving their communities.

In North Gaza, Tearfund has helped support the work of Al Ahli Hospital, one of the few hospitals that continued operating during intense fighting. Despite damage to the facility and ongoing danger, medical teams have continued treating injured people and caring for patients suffering from chronic illness and malnutrition.

With humanitarian aid often blocked or restricted, Tearfund’s partners have worked to deliver medicines and maintain essential health services for vulnerable communities.
