What's happened

  • On 5 August, Indonesia’s Lombok Island was struck by a powerful 7.0 magnitude earthquake, causing severe damage and loss of life.
  • As of 11 August, news agencies report the death toll is up to 430.
  • More than 350,000 people have been displaced and over 64,000 homes have been damaged or destroyed.
  • In some outlying villages, there are reports that 100% of homes have been destroyed.
  • The initial earthquake has been followed by 66 aftershocks.
  • A seven-day state of emergency has been declared in the province of West Nusa Tenggara.

How we're helping
